Death Before Dishonor! 🩺
The medical movie I still love so much is "The Resident." I was trying to think about why I so much liked the movie even when I have a special detest for series. I was always waiting to see each episode from every season. I would wait to get the subtitle before watching it so I can see the spellings of medical words and clearly follow some procedures. One time, I had to start Jotting down some stuffs to search later. I was really excited that I was understanding what was going on in the movie and the suspense did put me in suspense. As it should be!
Probably because it encompassed health care, family and friends, love, hospital management, politics, rules and ethics, diseases and treatments, surgeries and medical explanations and so so lot more. I could go on. My favourite character was Nurse Nic. She died later on and I also moved on to have another favourite character. This time, the rule-breaking, rich, built, smart and romantic consultant, Dr Conrad Hawkins. At first, I got pissed off at his attitude to work. Being an ex-military, he was always up to the task of beating someone up in justifiable defense of another. Soon, I found that really cool when he would break hospital rules to save the lives of his patients. He got sacked once. But you know some people are just too skilled to be put away. They are the life of some organizations or establishments.
One striking thing I noticed was Conrad's choice of tattoo. He has this medic logo on his hand and it just shouted so much of who he was. Like, "see, I am a medical personnel!" Loud with confidence yunno. Then another, behind him was boldly written, "Death Before Dishonor!" Those three words been ringing in my head lately.
What could have given a man such intuition, with considerations or without considerations, to get such words printed on him?
He was sure respected for who he is, he had standards and he would not cover up any evil. He was feared. Now, that's where the honour for him probably lies. Definitely, no one would sniff to dishonor Conrad, he just had his way of doing things.
How exactly do we get to be honoured to the extent that no scent of Dishonor passes by? Really?
Maybe we just live our lives based on values that we have gathered for ourselves, standards that we would not compromise, no matter what, principles that others can adopt and significantly succeed as well. But first, do we even have our own standards? Or we just fall for whatever comes our way?
Dishonor would not be far away if our standards are far from our attitudes.
Here's a movie recommendation for you.
You should see this movie.
