Blind Love. 

     It is obvious that the term 'Love is blind' is dominant in this generation. Not that we are not educated but we have refused to give in to the fact. We still go ahead like we've not been warned. This is definitely the blind love they were talking about. 

    Unlike every other clinical postings, we were informed that we would be taking shifts so we can maximize the opportunity of staying in the Pediatrics Ward. I personally have no liking for little ones. Majorly because of the persistent crying in loud tunes with no tears and also because they would not allow you to touch them if you are looking like a nurse. They just assume you want to use needles on them. Now, my special liking for this ward is waxing as I have learnt so much. 

     In every pediatric ward it's surprising that you'd meet at least 2 Sickle cell patients out of 15 admitted patients. They mostly look pale and are smaller compared to what their age really is. Now the issue is that they are always in and out of the hospital and they miss out in the normal lifestyle their mates are enjoying. 

     This young girl told her Mum on admission, 'Mummy, that's my bed'. She was pointing to one of the hospital cots and she claimed it as hers. She had been on that bed before and she felt she needed to claim it the next time they were there because it was vacant. The mother was amazed and she acted up like the normal African mother, praying against the statement the daughter uttered. 

     We have all heard it before and it's not new but we refuse to take it seriously. Shade, no matter how much you love brother Daniel, you can't marry him if your genotype isn't compatible. God is not a magician. Nothing will happen than you putting your unborn child in danger. Don't be blind. You know the right thing. You should know your genotype and if not, refer back to the medical tests you took when you entered school. Yes, look for that paper. If you need to run another test, please do. It's true that some laboratories make mistakes and you have to visit like 3 to 4 laboratories to be sure. You are either AA, AS, SS, AC, SC or CC. Here's the compatibility chart;

AA + AA = AA, AA, AA, AA (Excellent)

AA + AS = AA, AS, AA, AS, (Good)

AA + SS = AS, AS, AS, AS, (Fair)

AA + AC = AA, AA, AA, AC. (Good)

AS + AS = AA, AS, AS, SS, (Very Bad)

AS + SS = AS, SS, SS, SS, (Very Bad)

AS + AC = AA, AC, AS,SS. (Bad; Advice needed)

SS + SS = SS, SS, SS, SS, (Very Bad)

AC + SS = AS, AS, SS, SS, (Very Bad)

AC + AC = AA, AC, AC, SS. ( Bad; Advice needed)

     If you've gotten valentine gift from an incompatible partner, I just said I should remind you. You still have the time to make things right. I wish you luck.
